The Department of Global Engagement is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Christie Dunn as the new Associate Director of Education Abroad beginning March 1.

As Associate Director of Education Abroad, Dunn will work closely with faculty members to develop and implement high-quality study abroad programs that meet the needs of Texas A&M students. She brings extensive experience in international education and will collaborate with colleagues across the university to ensure that education abroad programs align with academic goals and priorities.

Since 2008, Dunn managed international programs for the College of Arts and Sciences, previously the College of Liberal Arts. During that time, she oversaw faculty-led study abroad programs and exchange programs. Dunn also has experience leading programs abroad. She led eight international experiences for first-year courses that enrolled Regents’ Scholars in Liberal Arts.

“I have enjoyed a rewarding collaborative relationship with Education Abroad for many years as a college liaison, supporting students and faculty to realize their goals,” Dunn said. “I am excited to join this outstanding team of dedicated and enthusiastic professionals to continue the work of advancing education abroad at Texas A&M.”

Dunn holds a Ph.D. in Education Administration from Texas A&M University, where she successfully defended her dissertation titled I feel less beholden to others: How education abroad facilitates movement toward self-authorship among first-generation students. Dunn received her M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration and Student Personnel from Kent State University and earned her Bachelor of Arts in International and Regional Studies from the University of the Pacific.

"We are thrilled to have Dr. Dunn join the Education Abroad team," said Dr. Holly Hudson, Associate Vice President for Global Engagement and Senior International Officer. "Her deep knowledge of international education, combined with her passion for helping students learn and grow through study abroad, will be an asset to all those we serve."
