The Department of Global Engagement strategically aligns several critical internationally focused units bringing together International Student & Scholar Services, Education Abroad, Global Partnerships & Initiatives, Soltis Center for Research & Education, and Mexico Partnership Services. As a hub of resources and partnerships, Global Engagement fosters the University’s commitment to solving the world’s most pressing problems through a focus on transformational international education and research that serves our local communities and the world at large.

ISSS Mission Statement

Texas A&M University International Student & Scholar Services supports international students, scholars, and their families as they navigate the U.S. immigration system and life in the U.S.  We educate on policies and regulations and provide programs to enhance the Texas A&M international community experience.

ISSS manages immigration services strictly and fairly to best protect our International Aggie community and Texas A&M University.

  • We will explain our reasoning if we cannot approve a request.


We expect you to:

  • Treat ISSS staff with dignity and respect.

  • Submit your requests as far in advance as possible.
  • Complete your requests fully and accurately.

About Us
Global Partnerships & Initiatives (GPI)

The Mission of Global Services is to facilitate formal linkages with global partners and provide specialized services that enhance learning, relationships, and collaborations. Our clientele includes Texas A&M and international faculty, staff, and administrators, local community leaders in Costa Rica, and both student and faculty Fulbrighters. Our support services for clientele includes the following.

Soltis Center for Research & Education

The Soltis Center’s mission is to serve as the official institutional representation of Texas A&M University in Costa Rica and to assist in the internationalization of education, research, and outreach programs in support of the university’s goals. The Center supports the University’s initiatives in Costa Rica and throughout Central America.  

The center serves faculty and students from the Texas A&M University System and from other universities and research institutions by:


  • Facilitating faculty and staff led student programs 
  • Assisting researchers to achieve their objectives 
  • Providing room and board and logistical services 
  • Creating academic and local partnerships within Costa Rica 
  • Developing student service-learning programs in the local community
