Texas A&M Scholarship Opportunities
Texas A&M University values the transformational experience that an Education Abroad opportunity provides. To encourage students to participate, the University awards approximately $1.5 million in study abroad scholarships each academic year!TAMU UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP
This single scholarship application facilitates consideration for multiple education abroad specific awards at Texas A&M, including the following:- Education Abroad Scholarship (based on academic & co-curricular achievement) - range of $500 - $2,000
- Additional scholarships offered by individual colleges/departments across campus - amounts vary
To be eligible for these scholarships, students must maintain full-time enrollment status for the term abroad. For graduate students, ‘full-time’ enrollment is 9 credit hours for the semester and 4 credit hours for the summer. For undergraduate students, ‘full-time’ enrollment is 12 credit hours for the semester and 6 credit hours for the summer. Additionally, it is acceptable for students to enroll in coursework tied to the international experience and/or a combination of coursework.

EDUCATION ABROAD STIPEND FOR ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS - $1,000
To be eligible for this stipend, students must be receiving one of the following four-year academic scholarships (President’s Endowed, President’s Achievement, Lechner, McFadden, or Century). Semester programs must total at least 12 credit hours and summer programs must total 6 credit hours.- Stipend Form for Summer 2024 Programs is available in the 2023-2024 Scholarship Handbook under the 'Students' section of 'Scholarships' (see pages 28-29).
- Stipend Form for Fall 2024 - Summer 2025 Programs is available in the 2024 - 2025 Scholarship Handbook under the 'Students' section of 'Scholarships' (see pages 32-33).
STUDY ABROAD STIPEND FOR TERRY FOUNDATION SCHOLARS - (varies)
This additional funding support is available to current Terry Scholars. To initiate the study abroad stipend request, email scholarships@tamu.edu. As part of the request process to be eligible, students must show how the education abroad credit will apply to their degree. Other requirements include a program duration of two weeks or longer and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better,Deadlines for funding requests:
- Fall study abroad programs: July 1st
- Spring study abroad programs: November 1st
- Summer study abroad programs: May 1st
GLOBETROTTER GRANT - $2,000
This grant is designed for an adventurous Texas A&M student whose plans are not limited simply to study abroad.GRADUATE STUDENT RESEARCH AND PRESENTATION TRAVEL AWARD- $1,000 (may vary)
This travel award offered by the Graduate & Professional School, with additional support provided by the George & Barbara Bush Foundation supports graduate students pursuing educational and professional development opportunities. Application deadlines are scheduled quarterly.GRADUATE AND PROFESSIONAL STUDENT GOVERNMENT (GPSG) TRAVEL AWARD- (varies)
This travel award is offered by GPSG, supports graduate and professional students with registration expenses (e.g., for conferences, career fairs, case competitions, and so forth). Award tiers differ based on the students' level of participation at the conference, meeting, etc.. Application deadlines are scheduled quarterly.COLLEGE OF VETERINARY MEDICINE & BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES TRAVEL AWARDS - $1,000 (may vary)
This fund is administered by the CVM International Programs Advisory Committee and is for CVM students only (BIMS, DVM, Graduate) to apply to education abroad programs. - The Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship Program is for U.S. citizen undergraduates receiving Pell Grants who are studying/interning abroad for credit.

- The Boren Scholarship is for undergraduates studying a lesser taught language for an extended period of time.
- The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program is for undergraduates studying a critical language.
- Go Overseas Volunteer Abroad Scholarship is for students volunteering abroad.
ROTC
- Project G.O. (Global Officers) is for ROTC students interested in studying a critical language. Project G.O. programs focus exclusively on Middle Eastern, Asian, Central Asian, and African languages and countries.
Location Specific
- The Freeman-ASIA Scholarship is for students studying abroad in East or Southeast Asia.
- The Killam Fellowships Program is for students studying abroad in Canada for at least a semester.
- DAAD is for students studying abroad in Germany.
- The Bridging Scholarship is for students studying abroad in Japan for at least a semester.
- Go Overseas offers scholarships in a number of locations including Scotland, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and others.
- The Scotland Saltire Scholarship is for students studying abroad in Scotland.
- Turkish Coalition of America is for minority students studying abroad in Turkey.
- BUTEX Scholarships are for students studying abroad at a BUTEX institution in the U.K.
