There are many Mexican universities and institutions that conduct research. All universities, both public and private, are overseen by the Ministry of Education in Mexico, called “Secretaría de Educación Pública”. There is also a government institution that oversees scientific research.  It is currently called CONACYT. Now (starting in 2023) CONACYT could be strengthened and change its name to National Council of Humanities, Sciences, and Technologies (CONAHCYT).
