Global Engagement is a dynamic department made up of multiple units that serve several different types of audiences and offer a wide range of programs and services. Each unit has unique roles and responsibilities, which means there are a variety of part-time student positions available throughout the year. Student worker positions include roles in immigration support, passport services, creative media, administrative office assistance, web and computer support, and more. Because hiring needs vary by unit and season, this page will be updated regularly with new opportunities. Internship Description
This 15-week, unpaid internship offers hands-on experience in video storytelling and production, preparing students for careers in TV, news, and digital media. Interns will work approximately 15 hours per week and must be enrolled in JOUR 484 to participate. While no prior videography experience is required, preference will be given to applicants with relevant experience.
Using equipment provided by Global Engagement, you’ll learn the fundamentals of videography, editing, scriptwriting, and digital storytelling while gaining practical skills such as creating shot lists, preparing interviews, and gathering B-roll.
The internship includes regular weekly check-ins and feedback on progress. Learning is self-paced but structured to meet regular deadlines.
Throughout the internship, you will complete three major video projects—including event coverage, a program overview video, and social media reels—all suitable for adding to your professional portfolio. Additionally, interns will earn an Adobe Premiere Pro Essential Skills Certificate that they can add on their LinkedIn profile.
Internship Benefits
By the end of the 15-week internship, students will:

Job Duties

What we want:
Education Abroad is seeking motivated students to support full-time staff in various capacities. We are hiring for two different types of positions. The first type of position is for clerical support with designated program areas. The second type is working at the front desk, which is a mix of answering phones, answering student questions, assisting people with their passport needs, and various clerical tasks. Student Assistants are integral to the Education Abroad team and we encourage you to apply!
Primary duties for program area positions:
- Work specifically with certain program types providing more concentrated assistance. Examples of assistance include but are not limited to processing applications, data entry, replying to emails, compiling reports and Excel spreadsheets, and assisting a team of full-time advisors on particular projects and programming initiatives.
- Work with portal/database and website to organize, upload, and monitor applications and material uploads
- General clerical duties include sorting, filing, shredding, cutting, organizing, etc.
- Provide basic information on education abroad matters with guidance from full-time staff members.
Primary duties for front desk positions:
- Assist the front desk with screening visitors and answering phone calls professionally and courteously.
- Provide basic information on education abroad matters with guidance from full-time staff members.
- Assist passport agents in taking photos and verifying that applicants have all the required materials.
- General clerical duties include sorting, filing, shredding, cutting, organizing, etc.
- Work with portal/database and website to organize, upload, and monitor applications and material uploads.
- Assist individual staff members with tasks or projects as needed, including item delivery to/from other campus locations
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled as a student at Texas A&M University
- Must be able to complete HR requirements including presenting original identification documents
- Ability to communicate with a varied set of customers and coworkers
- Strong organizational and customer service skills
- Mist be in good standing with the university
- Ability to work as a team, as well as independently with minimal supervision
- Minimum 1 year (12 months) commitment
- Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn
- Available to work 12+ hours weekly during operating hours (Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm) each semester
