Duties and Functions:
Responsible for providing individual support to perspective, current, and former international students and scholars as well as their dependents and family members related to their well-being at during their time at Texas A&M and in the United States.
Provides information and advising to Texas A&M departments and external agencies related to international student and scholar needs. 
Regularly assists with urgent cases and student emergencies as needed.
Advises international students and scholars on financial support options, including scholarships and the Watkins loan.
Serves as Designated School Official (DSO) for F Program
Serves as Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) for J Program

Bachelors Recreation, Parks & Tourism Sciences - Texas A&M University Class of 04 
Masters Urban Planning - Texas A&M University Class of 07

Countries I Have Visited:
South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Egypt, France, Italy, Greece, Turkey, UAE, Canada, Mexico. 
Spent 4 months in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Short Bio:
Matthew grew up in a small town outside of Beaumont, TX, and moved to College Station in 1997.  Matthew has a B.S. in Recreation, Park and Tourism Services and a Master’s degree in Urban Planning from Texas A&M.  His career has involved urban planning positions within city government, as well as a contract negotiation role for the university.  He enjoys traveling (favorite spots include Colorado, South Africa, Botswana, the Middle East, and France) and is excited at the opportunity to assist international students.  Additionally, Matthew enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, watching Formula 1 racing (Go Team McLaren!), woodcarving, cooking (I make a mean Gumbo!), and listening to Punk, Alt-Rock, and Hip-Hop and discovering new music.
