Fees, Insurance, & Taxes
Billing & Fee Explanations
There are 2 primary fees associated with the ISSS Office. You can learn more about these as well as other University fees by reviewing the University Catalog:
These fees cannot be waived unless you are no longer classified as an international student. All students who are not a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident are classified as international students.
If you feel that you should not have been charged for an ISSS fee, please contact ISSS at isss@tamu.edu with your name, UIN, and the reason you should not be charged this fee (such as you are a citizen or permanent resident).
International Health Insurance
The Texas A&M University System requires all international students enrolled at Texas A&M in F-1 or J-1 status to be covered under the Texas A&M University System Student Health Insurance Plan (SSHIP) or have equivalent insurance coverage that meets the waiver criteria. The Student Health Insurance Regulation page has the state regulation statements about these requirements.
It is highly recommended for all Texas A&M students to have insurance. However, for students who are not on an F-1 or J-1 visa, they are not required to have the Texas A&M University System Student Health Insurance Plan (SSHIP) or have equivalent insurance coverage. Visit the ISSS Health Insurance page for details or additional information.
If you have further inquiries about your health insurance, submit the Health Insurance Questions/Concerns request in the ISSS Portal.
- What is it? - It is an online form for health insurance queries to ISSS office.
- Why? - If there are any questions/concerns regarding the student health insurance charge, accessing their coverage, or learning more about their benefits.
