Residency for Tuition Purposes
Even if students with or without DACA pay in-state tuition rates, each public college or university has the right to consider and categorize the student as an international or domestic student in their system. At Texas A&M University, international students with and without DACA are classified as international students in the university system because all students who are not a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident are considered international students. More information about international student fees can be found here.
The Aggie One Stop provides information on how international students with and without DACA can establish Texas residency.
ISSS PROCEDURES
Any Texas A&M University student who is not a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident is considered an international student.
All international students must check-in with ISSS.
All international students must check-in with ISSS.
Most likely, your visa type will be defaulted to F-1 status in the student information system. Please note that this visa type is used by multiple offices at Texas A&M for tuition residency, tax compliance, health insurance, and more. To get your status updated with the university, you need to submit an Other Student Check-In. ISSS will also remove any holds from our office when processing the check-in.
