Texas A&M has chosen to affiliate with the following providers. Their program offerings can be found in the Education Abroad Portal. If you are unable to find a specific affiliated program, please email the program name and link to tcabroad@tamu.edu.
Affiliate provider programs offer access to a wide variety of program locations, courses, and program durations. Ideal for students looking for a cohort model with on site support services, but still allowing for an immersive experience. Available add-on features might include internship/volunteer work, excursions, and flexible housing options.
Many of our study abroad affiliates offer discounts to Texas A&M students! For more information see Affiliate Provider Discounts & Scholarship Opportunities on our scholarship website.
Texas A&M University Education Abroad Affiliate Providers
Application Process
Explore program options and thoroughly review the sponsoring providers website for program specific information before applying. The top of the program brochure on the Education Abroad portal includes a link to the program’s homepage.
Affiliate provider programs require a dual application process.
- Apply with Education Abroad by finding your program on our portal. Email tcabroad@tamu.edu if you cannot find your Affiliate Provider’s program listed.
- Apply directly with the provider.
Ideally, the Education Abroad application should be started first to facilitate the course pre-approval process. However, applications are often worked on simultaneously. Additionally:
- Students must meet both eligibility requirements from Education Abroad and the provider.
- Program specific questions should be sent to the sponsoring provider.
Additional information about the Education Abroad application
Most application items can be completed relatively quickly. However, the Pre-Approval Form for Transfer Credit can take 2 or more weeks to complete as several signatures are required. Additionally, only Education Abroad can mark your Pre-Approval Form for Transfer Credit as received in your application.
After your application is complete
Once the application is complete, it will be reviewed by an education abroad advisor.
- If accepted, you will be notified and asked to commit your participation.
- Complete new pre-departure application items.
Transfer Credit
Courses taken on Affiliate Provider programs will come back to Texas A&M as transfer credit. Transfer credit is processed as pass/fail and does not count towards a student's Texas A&M GPA.
Part of the application process includes the Pre-Approval Form for Transfer Credit. Students indicate the course(s) they intend to take while abroad and work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and their academic advisors to obtain approval on how, if at all, the course(s) would transfer to Texas A&M and fit a student’s degree plan.
Visit the Transfer Credit Resources page for detailed information on how to complete the Pre-Approval Form for Transfer Credit.
Previously Approved Courses
To get an idea of how courses from Affiliate Provider programs have transferred back to previous students’ degree plans, check out our list of previously approved transfer courses.
Note: The document is for reference only. It serves as a guide, not a guarantee that the same course will be approved the same way for each student. All courses still need to be approved by the appropriate parties as indicated on the Pre-Approval Form for Transfer Credit.
Student travel rule
Texas A&M University students are required to register their international travel with Education Abroad for risk management purposes and compliance, per the University Student Travel Rule 13.04.99.M1.
For any transfer credit program, transfer credit refers to the act of being enrolled in another institution or provider course whether the credit counts towards the student’s degree plan or not. No credit means the student is not enrolled in any course on their experience.
The application/registration requirement is typically fulfilled prior to travel. However, it remains valid if initiated while abroad or retroactively. The student is expected to to complete the process in a timely manner and will be assessed the service fee determined for the program type and related services. Education Abroad reserves the right to create and/or commit an application, if the student is currently abroad or has returned from their experience and is not completing the process. Please note that payment delay may result in university penalties for non-payment (including potential holds).
If the appropriate application/registration option for the term the student is going abroad has closed, the student is still responsible for reaching out to Education Abroad as some program types have flexibility with their deadline. Education Abroad can attach an application to a student’s profile for a student to work on, even if the deadline has passed.
Course Registration
Students will enroll in a specific SABR placeholder course. The course will not generate any Texas A&M tuition or fees. Being enrolled in the placeholder course indicates you are still a Texas A&M student who is abroad for that given term. It also allows the student to still have access to their financial aid and scholarships.
Only students with a Confirmed status through Education Abroad are granted access to the SABR placeholder course.
Course registration must be open for the term the student is going abroad in order to register in the course.
Transcript Process for Returned Students
It can take 1-4 months after a program ends for a transcript to be created, sent to, received, and fully processed by Texas A&M. Students should check their Academic Record & Planning in Howdy under My Records to see if the courses from their program have been added to the term they went abroad.
Physical transcript should be mailed directly to Texas A&M Admissions at the address below.
