Duties and Functions:
Responsible for the leadership and management of the ISSS office
Advocates for the needs of ISSS team members as well as international students & scholars
Coordinates, develops, and oversese all services related to international students and scholars
Serves as Designated School Official (DSO) for F Program
Serves as Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) for J Program
Campus Liaison Relationships:
Serves as primary contact for all issues impacting Texas A&M University’s international students and scholars
Represents ISSS on numerous university committees, including the Leadership Team for the Global Engagement department
Education:
Master of Science in Recreation, Park and Tourism Sciences from Texas A&M University
Bachelor of Arts in Language and International Trade (Spanish and Tourism) from Clemson University
Countries I Have Visited:
Lived with a host family in Santiago de Chile for 5 months through a study abroad program
Have also visited Argentina, Bahamas, Bolivia, Canada, France, Greece, Mexico, Peru, & Spain
Short Bio:
Originally from Maryland, Samantha moved to Texas to attend graduate school at Texas A&M University. She joined the ISSS unit in 2008 as an international student advisor and has been fortunate to find a career she loves bringing the world to Aggieland. In 2022, Samantha became the Director of ISSS. In this role, Samantha is passionate about supporting international students and scholars as well as the ISSS team. When she’s not working, Samantha loves spending time with her husband and 2 children, traveling to new places, and trying new restaurants.
