For many U.S. students, studying abroad is part of the college experience.
Nearly 190,000 U.S. students studied internationally during 2021-2022 academic year, according to the 2023 "Open Doors U.S. Study Abroad" annual survey by the not-for-profit Institute of International Education.  Studying abroad offers new academic experiences, cultural understanding and the chance to build relationships outside your traditional circles, experts say.
"There are so many things to think about in terms of paperwork, their passport, choosing the right program, how much it’s going to cost or which location. It can be a little overwhelming," says Pascale Parker, director of education abroad at Texas A&M University
