BRYAN/COLLEGE STATION, May 2, 2025: Trisha Winkle, Assistant Director of Education Abroad at Texas A&M University, has been recognized with two prestigious awards for her outstanding contributions to the university's international exchange programs. Winkle received the John J. Koldus, III Award and the President’s Meritorious Service Award, highlighting her dedication and impact on the lives of Aggies.

The Koldus Award is presented to individuals who exemplify guidance, leadership, and personal interest in enhancing students' experiences at Texas A&M. This award acknowledges Winkle's exceptional efforts in going beyond her occupational requirements to ensure that international students feel welcome and supported.
“My exchange experience at Texas A&M was truly transformative—one of the best decisions I have ever made—and none of it would have been possible without Trish’s unwavering support, kindness, and dedication,” former exchange student Saki Majikina wrote in her nomination letter.
The Meritorious Service Award recognizes individuals who demonstrate selfless service, loyalty, respect, integrity, excellence, and leadership. Winkle's unwavering commitment to the well-being of exchange students and her innovative approach to international agreements have earned her this esteemed accolade.
“She creates positive relationships that promote the institution and has built an environment that fosters a sense of belonging by exhibiting true Texas hospitality,” wrote one nominator.
Other examples shared by nominators include driving students to medical appointments and offering emotional support during personal crises. During her time at Texas A&M, Winkle has transformed the international exchange program, creating a comprehensive support system that fosters a sense of belonging and community for international students. Her efforts have improved the efficiency of the exchange program and enhanced Texas A&M's reputation around the globe.
"I am incredibly touched that my co-workers would nominate me for this award. It feels great that others recognize the work I have put into improving the exchange program, especially since I have dedicated a lot of time to its success," Winkle said. "The success of the program would not be possible without the work and support of others who allow me to be me and trust my decision-making and ideas."
Winkle is one of two winners selected for the Koldus award and recipients will receive a momento and a $1,000 donation which will be given to a student organization of her choice. The award ceremony was held on April 30.
The President’s Meritorious Service award is given to twenty individuals with each person receiving a monetary award, a commemorative plaque, and a gold lapel pin. The ceremony was held on April 16.
