BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Nov. 21, 2024 – Texas A&M ranks as a top five U.S. public institution for the number of students pursuing credit-bearing international experiences, according to the latest Open Doors 2024 Report on International Educational Exchange from the Institute for International Education (IIE). 

The report covering the 2022-23 academic year, has the Aggies ranked at No. 4 overall and No. 3 for public universities with 3,056 students abroad. Known at Texas A&M as “Education Abroad”, the university has been ranked in the top 10 annually since the 2012-2013 academic year, including a #1 spot in the 2020-21 academic year rankings as they topped the list for both public and private universities. 

“Our top rankings highlight the continued dedication of our students, staff, and faculty to global engagement and the university’s commitment to providing transformative international experiences,” said Holly Hudson, Associate Vice President for Global Engagement and Senior International Officer. “These opportunities not only enrich our students’ academic journeys but also prepare them to be global leaders in today’s interconnected world.” 

In addition, Texas A&M is ranked in the Top 30 in the rankings for institutions hosting international students. The report, covering the 2023-24 academic year, places the Aggies No. 27 overall and No. 1 among Southeast Conference (SEC) schools with 7,635 students. According to the 2024 Open Doors Report, the total the number of international students attending U.S. colleges and universities reached an all-time high of more than 1.1 million (1,126,690) international students in 2023/2024, a 7& increase from the previous academic year.
