DURHAM, NC, Oct. 15, 2024 – The Association of International Education Administrators (AIEA) is pleased to announce the four AIEA Thematic Forums being hosted in 2024-2025. These forums provide an important opportunity for international education leaders to come together and explore critical issues in global engagement and internationalization in higher education.
The Department of Global Engagement at Texas A&M University, in conjunction with the Office of International Programs at Prairie View A&M University, was selected to host a forum on February 28, 2025, that addresses Advancing Internationalization in Higher Education During Times of External Influence.
This forum will address how higher education institutions can navigate political pressures, legislative mandates, and increasing uncertainty, while still advancing their mission. Participants will explore ways to reframe challenges as opportunities, identify policies impacting U.S. higher education, and discuss strategies for achieving institutional goals in compliance with federal and state regulations.

This forum will address the vital role of international education in preparing graduates to succeed in a diverse, interconnected world. Key forum objectives include enhancing career opportunities, strengthening industry-academia partnerships, and broadening networking platforms.
Developing Globally Engaged Institutions: Strategies for Navigating Global Operations
James Madison University
April 3-4, 2025
This forum will address how Senior International Officers (SIOs) can effectively manage and sustain global operations while advocating for them at various institutional levels. Participants will explore best practices for overseeing global projects, navigating regulations, and tackling financial and compliance challenges to drive comprehensive internationalization.
Coaching and Critical Intercultural Learning: Towards a New Approach for Global Education

April 8-9, 2025
This forum will address how coaching can enhance intercultural learning and support global education by shifting focus form a learning to a coaching culture. Participants will explore how coaching fosters belonging, reflective learning, leadership development, and inclusive work cultures, while equipping international education leaders with practical strategies to engage these concepts in their institutions.
AIEA Thematic Forums are designed to foster in-depth engagement on timely issues relevant to international education leaders. These events offer a unique platform for sharing best practices, addressing challenges, and exploring innovative solutions for advancing internationalization in higher education.
AIEA encourages both U.S.-based and international members to participate in the program, emphasizing the global nature of higher education today. Forums are led by members at their institutions, who also oversee event promotion and outreach.
