Texas A&M University encourages faculty, colleges, schools, and departments to host international visitors and delegations to formalize or support collaboration that enhances Texas A&M’s global opportunities for students and faculty. Please notify Global Engagement if you are planning to host visitors, we offer guidance and services to make their visit a success.
A delegation can be an individual or a group of people representing the guest institution. Visits may range from a few hours to multiple days, different consideration are made for different types of visits. Under special circumstances, Global Engagement may provide support with visitors on campus by facilitating the participation of leadership as well as planning and execution. The potential for involvement, by senior representatives of the University, with foreign delegation visits will be based on at least one of the following criteria:

The potential for involvement, by senior representatives of the University, with foreign delegation visits will be based on at least one of the following criteria:
- Meetings are requested that involve multiple units on campus and extend beyond one academic unit or department
- The visit involves senior leadership from international peer universities or government organizations with significant existing or potential partnerships with Texas A&M
- Senior international leaders have requested to meet with Texas A&M senior leadership, including the President, Vice President(s), or Provost
- The visiting delegation is from an Export Control designated country of concern
Things to Consider
Who is visiting?
If a visiting delegation involves dignitaries or high-ranking government officials and affiliated staff/representatives, Global Engagement staff will work with the President’s office to ensure participation of appropriate leadership.Examples of delegations include but are not limited to:
- Current or former chiefs of state/heads of government
- Ambassadors to the USA (or Consulates General)
- High-ranking members of royalty
- High-ranking military officials
- Religious or spiritual leaders
- United States Cabinet members
- United States members of Congress (senators and representatives)
- Texas governor or gubernatorial appointees
- Presidents/Chancellors and their equivalent from foreign or U.S. universities
- Regents
Prepare for the visit
Texas A&M University faculty/staff considering hosting such delegations should contact GE before recommending or obligating senior representative/ of the University – or other departments – to participate in hosting high-ranking dignitaries (foreign or domestic).
Please provide as much detail as possible on the International Visitor Request Form.

Please note:
- Submit the request form at least 30 days in advance.
- If you wish to sign an International Agreement, there are additional requirements and depending on the complexity of the agreement, this could extend the time to finalization.
- Please consider University holidays and campus events such as graduation.
- Due to a high volume of demand, we may not be able to accommodate all delegation requests. We appreciate your interest and understanding.
