Immigration Affairs is the office charged with the responsibility of providing support and guidance to Texas A&M University and its System members as it relates to the employment of foreign nationals. They are tasked with ensuring that the appropriate nonimmigrant status is attained for international faculty, researchers and staff. All questions concerning the employment of a foreign national who requires work authorization should be directed to the Immigration Affairs office.
J-1 Scholars
The J-1 Exchange Visitor Program was created by the U.S. Department of State to promote mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries through educational and cultural exchanges. International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) is the office within Global Engagement charged with serving as J-1 program sponsor for Texas A&M University, including Texas A&M University at Galveston, the Health Science Center, and the School of Law. In addition to supporting J-1 students, ISSS can assist departments interested in hosting J-1 professors, research scholars, short-term scholars, and student interns.
