ISSS Process:
Submit a Leave of Absence or Withdrawal request to ISSS to end your F-1 status (located under Academic Program Updates within the ISSS Portal).
You should submit your request 15 business days prior to your departure from the U.S., OR by the add/drop deadline of the first College Station term you will attend TAMUQ, whichever comes first.
For reference, the TAMU academic calendar is available here.
Your academic advisor must complete a recommendation for this request; this is a part of the Leave of Absence or Withdrawal request.
Upon processing your request, ISSS will terminate your F-1 SEVIS record for “Authorized Early Withdrawal.”
You will not be charged for TAMU health insurance while in Qatar.
During the remainder of your program at TAMUQ,
If you return to the U.S. for a conference, you may apply for B1 Business Visitor status. You could request a letter from TAMUQ OGS saying that you are physically enrolled at TAMUQ.

In this scenario, you will not be eligible for Curricular Practical Training (CPT) or Optional Practical Training (OPT).
